Civil Ceremonies
Oxcombe offers a rare combination: the familiarity of a traditional English setting, with the flexibility of a fully civil ceremony.
Licensed for civil weddings, the estate allows couples to be legally married on site while shaping a ceremony that feels personal, relaxed, and true to them.
A straightforward legal process
Civil ceremonies at Oxcombe are organised in partnership with the local council. Once your date is confirmed with us, couples work directly with the council registrar to complete the legal formalities.
This includes:
Giving notice at your local register office
Booking the registrar for your ceremony date
Finalising the required paperwork in advance of the day
We’re happy to guide you through the process and share timings and practical details based on previous weddings at Oxcombe.
Where civil ceremonies take place
Civil ceremonies can take place in two licensed locations on the estate:
The Church at Oxcombe, offering the beauty and atmosphere of a traditional church setting
The Gardens, for couples who prefer an outdoor ceremony surrounded by open countryside
Both options are fully licensed, allowing you to choose the setting that best suits the feel of your day.
A ceremony shaped around you
One of the advantages of a civil ceremony is flexibility. Couples are free to create a ceremony that feels inclusive and meaningful, whether that means personal readings, music choices, or a relaxed order of proceedings.
There is no expectation of formality beyond what feels right for you and your guests.
