Barns & Evening Celebrations

Oxcombe’s event barns are former 19th-century farm buildings, thoughtfully converted to create warm, characterful spaces for gathering, eating and celebrating. Built from traditional red brick with pantile roofs, both barns sit naturally within the wider traditional farmstead and gardens and retain the simplicity and texture of their agricultural past.

Each space offers a different feel, allowing celebrations to flow easily between indoors and outdoors, depending on the package and what you want from your day.

The Cowshed Events Barn

The Cowshed Events Barn is a relaxed, welcoming space used for drinks receptions, canapés and afternoon tea. It features oak floorboards, red brick walls and a glass-fronted aspect that opens onto the gardens, bringing in natural light throughout the day.

Tables and benches are made from beech wood sourced from the estate itself, and the space is decorated with a small collection of artwork and glass-fronted displays, many made or curated at Oxcombe. When set for events, the barn is softly lit, creating an informal yet considered atmosphere.

The Cowshed comfortably accommodates up to 35 guests plus the couple and the use of it is included within the Floating Blue and Shino packages.

The Crewyard Art Barn

The Crewyard Art Barn offers a more gallery-style environment, with sofas, artwork and open wall space creating a calm area for guests to settle, talk and unwind. Like the Cowshed, it is built from red brick with a pantile roof and features a glass-fronted façade, alongside underfloor heating for comfort in the colder months.

This space works particularly well as a lounge, dining or dancing area and can accommodate up to 45 guests. The Crewyard is available as part of the Tenmoku package, alongside the Cowshed, allowing couples to use both barns together if they wish.

Drinks, Dining & Flow

Depending on the package and the weather, drinks and canapés can be enjoyed across the gardens as well as within the barns, allowing guests to move freely between indoor and outdoor spaces.

For full-day celebrations, the barns can be arranged to suit the shape of the event - from shared dining tables to open space for dancing later in the evening. Couples choosing our bespoke Tenmoku package are free to curate the layout and flow of the day, with guidance available if helpful.

The horse box bar is available to hire as an optional extra, offering a distinctive and informal focal point for drinks with a distinctly rural feel.

Evening Celebrations at Oxcombe

For couples planning a longer celebration, the Tenmoku package allows the day to unfold into the evening, with exclusive use of both barns and access to the gardens throughout.

Drinks are often enjoyed on the front lawns of the house before moving inside for dinner, dancing and an evening gathering. With flexible layouts, atmospheric lighting and space to host live music or a band, the barns provide a natural setting for relaxed evening celebrations that feel personal rather than formal.
